Once Friend of Kaiser; Now Conducts Toy Shop SEATTLE, Jan. —AlVo von Aiven sleben, scion of one of tli> proudest families of Prussia, who had millions a few years aero and who was reported to be the personal friend and agent of the kaiser, today, is running- a little toy store here. After remaining in obscurity since liis release from Fort Douglas, Utah, where he was interned. Von Alvensle ben suddenly made his appearance in Seattle and, advertised by the news paper stories about his spectacular past, is doing a rushing business. Von Alvensleben's career rivals any thing in fiction. Born in a family iden tified with the German nobility since 1756, he was brought up in the mili tary caste and was an officer in the German army. He was at tended by huge retinues of servants. He operated a whole fleet of expensive automobiles. He supported a stable- of polo ponies. Then came the war. Von Alvensle ben came to the United States, hut ugly rumors followed him and wrecked his business. The story was generally printed that he was slated to be gov ernor-general of Canada—if the kaiser won. And he was certainly intimate with the German embassy.
